Between 1984 and 1986, while a Reader working with Tim Cornick at Reading University, I researched and developed the people>processes>system approach to developing process-based management systems.

Before then I had worked on projects to deliver QA the old-fashioned way with lots of inspection and testing by the “we know best department” which was separate from people who actually did the work.

Since then I’ve helped many projects and other types of organizations to deliver QA through the people who do the work using and improving their process-based management systems to add value while preventing nonconformity.

By the time the year 2000 version of ISO 9001 hit the streets my clients had taken it’s newly specified “process approach” for 14 years.

These days I advise leaders so they enable their process-based management systems to create more successful customers.

Quality Management is a great career choice if you are able to encourage your colleagues to manage and deliver quality instead of trying to do it for them!

Studying and developing organizational management systems is the key to success.
